Lafayette Softball Tryouts – 2021
Monday, February 22nd

With the COVID pandemic, tryouts will look different this year. Please read carefully and find each group attached in the pictures for this post.

Where:
Enter the back of the school through the gym foyer entrance at the specified times below between 7pm and 7:20pm. Only players from the list will be checked in at the specified times. (See below)

Pickup will conclude at 9:00pm in the green building. (NOTE – pitchers and catchers will conclude at 9:30pm).

Arrival Times:
(See the attached pictures for groups)
Blue Group – arrive at 7pm
Green Group – arrive at 7:10pm
Pink Group – arrive at 7:20pm
Gray Group – (no tryouts yet) Basketball players will tryout the day after the basketball season ends.

*If you don’t see your name on the list, please arrive at 7:20pm.

Check-in will require you to get a temperature screening and signing an attestation form that you do not have any COVID symptoms.

What to bring:
1. Mask (to be worn when not performing athletic activities).

2. All softball equipment including helmet, bat, glove, batting gloves, masks (especially any and all catcher’s gear if applicable).

3. Tennis shoes to perform running and other drills indoors. (No cleats necessary) Athletic shorts and t-shirt.

4. Personal Water bottle for each player.

5. KHSAA Physical form- (this can be found in the documents section of this app if you need a blank copy. These must be completed (ALL 6 PAGES) and turned in before ANYONE has a tryout or practice.

6. Middle School Play Up Form (if applicable) – sent earlier this week in this app (News).

6. $25 insurance check made payable to Lafayette High School. (If your daughter paid this for another sport this academic year at your middle school or high school already, please document this when you sign in and specify which sport and which school was paid.)

Parent Responsibilities:
• Ensure that their child(ren) are healthy and monitor, as well as check their child(ren’s) temperature daily to protect all athletes/participants/students and staff.
• Provide a full bottle of water for each school-sponsored activity.
• Carpooling with other teammates is Discouraged.
• Adhere to social distance requirements based on state and local health official guidelines. Entering the school sponsored activity (practice, game, meeting, etc.) area or assisting the coach/director with equipment prior to or at the conclusion of all school-sponsored event is strictly prohibited.
• Clean and sanitize child(ren’s) clothing by regular washing at the conclusion of every school-sponsored activity.
• Sanitize all equipment/instruments (e.g. cleats, ball, etc.) prior to and at the conclusion of every school-sponsored activity.
• Immediately inform the coach/director if their child becomes ill for any reason.
• Ensure that their child is equipped with sanitizing agents/products for use on their person at all times.

Player/ Participant Responsibilities:
• Temperature readings should be taken and recorded daily.
• Thorough handwashing shall take place prior to and at the conclusion of every school-sponsored activity.
• Bring personal water bottles to every school-sponsored activity.
• Bring hand sanitizer to every school-sponsored activity for personal use.
• Wear facemask prior to and immediately at the conclusion of all school-sponsored activities.
• Do not touch or share anyone else’s personal equipment, water, snack or equipment/garment bag.
• Practice social distancing by placing equipment and equipment/garment bags at least 6 feet apart.
• Wash and sanitize all equipment prior to and at the conclusion of all school-sponsored activity.
• Refrain from group celebrations, including high-fives, hugs, handshakes, or any physical contact that breaks social distancing practice
